Discerned Training for Congregations
Sacred Touch Healing Prayer is a spiritual discernment process for congregations who are creating and maintaining a hands-on healing prayer ministry. Because each congregation is called to a unique expression of this ministry, the process is prayerfully discerned with the participants to meet the unique needs of each congregation. Training components may include: seminars in God’s Healing Gift, Reiki classes, developing ancient prayer practices or learning skills in the discernment process.
After a seminar, participants covenant to engage in daily personal practice and twice-monthly small groups. Retreats may be held for discernment and to deepen the practices taught.
A Hands-on Healing Imagery Prayer Practice
Jesus introduced healing to his followers as a demonstration that the Kingdom of God was at hand. He taught his followers to heal and that God was the source of all healing. He expected his disciples to practice healing as part of the Good News they shared with others.
Through a five-day intensive retreat, participants are taught to develop their own latent, God-given healing ability, to focus attention in a very concentrated way and to access their own prayerful inner imagery. The imagery process serves as a metaphorical bridge between the ill person, the healer and God. This process works to accelerate the God-given self-repair mechanisms that are part of the human healing system.
The training is divided into two parts. Part One consists of participating in Holy Silence and learning and practicing meditative/contemplative exercises. Part Two is the practice of healing prayer with one another through imagery and the laying on of hands. Each person receives healing prayer.
